Pet wellness has been added in here because I am an animal lover. If you have linked into this page you must be as well. Pets add a dimension to our lives that is difficult to achieve from other sources. I wanted people to know that we can make a difference in the health and wellness of our loved ones. I have researched some ways in looking after our pets to the best of our ability and resources . I have added some great companies in here that we can order online supplies. Holistic food is by far the best food for our animals and I hope you visit some of the suggestions on here . Remember pets give us the most unconditional love imaginable and in that respect they deserve to be healthy, strong and loved.
We are all looking for ways to save money in our household and pet medications can become an extremely expensive debt for many people. When you are looking to save money on your pet needs you should by discount pet medications online. The internet is filled with website dedicated to helping you save money with your pet medications online. However, how do you know which website to choose? How do you know which website is offering the highest quality medications for your family pet?
Our pets are like our family members and we don’t want to simply entrust their care to anyone. We expect to have quality products, especially when our beloved pet’s health is concerned. You can save a fortune on pet medications and shipping costs when you buy them at discount prices from online. Often you can find free shipping when you purchase from online websites.
Some people automatically assume that if you purchase pet meds at a discount online that you’re giving up quality. Purchasing your pet meds from a reliable wholesaler will not only save you money but still let you have quality medications for your animal. Online companies are able to offer discounts without sacrificing quality because they cut out all the overhead costs such as large advertising campaigns, physical facility expenditures, charges for utilities and employee costs. Even with companies that have both online and physical store locations, the majority of these places offer significantly lower priced medications for their websites than they do for their actual stores. This is because the physical locations have all the normal overhead expenditures that they must pass along to the customers to meet costs and maintain profits. The online version of the store does not have to meet these costs to maintain a profit and thus will naturally have lower prices for the exact same products.
What it boils down to is that you pay less purchasing on the Internet because you are not having a face to face sales person handle your transactions. Subsequently, what is the best method to locate the perfect website to purchase lower cost pet meds?
Your first step is to determine the quality of the pet meds that the Internet Company is supplying. You can determine quality by reviewing the product information listed on their webpage. Also, you will want to do an Internet search to read any reviews that have been posted about the company. Examine the cost of the pet meds you are selecting. They should be within reason of the prices that are charged by offline stores. If the price difference is very large, you might want to determine if the savings is being taken away in enormous shipping and handling charges or possibly the quality of the pet meds are lower than other places. It is reasonable to expect higher costs for overnight and express shipping options. However, even these should be within reason.
Be cautious when purchasing from websites that offer tremendous discounts but charge outrageous shipping and handling charges. It is natural to expect to pay higher charges for overnight and express mailing of your pet’s medications. To save money, if the medications are regularly taken by your pet be sure to order them in advance instead of running out and having to pay overnight and express handling fees. Additionally, find out if the company stands behind their products with warranties and guarantees. Companies that will back their products are often better than the ones that offer no type of guarantee.
PET THERAPY
I just wanted to mention this innovative method researchers have found to deal with stress. PET THERAPY . It is dramatic the affect pets have on people with adrenal deficiency, and high anxiety levels. I think a lot of people feel that pets would be more stress, more money ., more work. I wont deny they are that ,however the amount of joy and relief they bring to us , far outweighs the negative . The pros out way the cons on this one.I truly trust in pet therapy , I am going to try to get a friend of mine to add a tidbit in here on that.
However if you truly do not think you can take of a pet , then PLEASE DO NOT get one . There has to be a responsibility factor here.
There are way too many homeless, loveless , brown eyed , needy pets in shelters waiting for their ultimate demise.
SO this a hard decision , but one to be taken into consideration.

House Training your puppy
House training your puppy (or grown dog) can be both frustrating and rewarding. The purpose of this article is to attempt to maximize the rewarding portion of the experience. There are several methods to accomplish this goal and I want to take a few minutes outlining the process and benefits of each.
Litter Box Training
Litter Box training your puppy is similar to litter training a kitten. Unfortunately, the kitten is much more “naturally” inclined towards this method. This method is not really practical for a grown dog or a large breed of puppy. Remember that you must have constant contact with your puppy to use this method of training. The litter box will replace the need to take the puppy outside, making it an ideal method to use if you have no yard.
A puppy litter box needs to be large and you might want to line the floor underneath incase of an accident. Keep the box on a hard-floor surface, preferably vinyl or ceramic if possible.
You can fill the box with cat litter and clean it the same way you would a cat litter box. Be sure to clean regularly as puppies typically generate a lot of waste.
Puppies will usually return to a place they have used before, so keeping a little bit of urine in the box will increase the likelihood of its use.
Paper Training
Paper training is similar to litter box training, but leaves you with a new consideration. Somehow, you must teach the puppy to eventually go outside. The ideal way to accomplish this is to be sure to set the paper near the door. This way your puppy will become accustomed to going to the door when he needs to potty.
With this method, you will need to take the puppy to the paper spot whenever you think it is time to potty. Be sure to praise your puppy when he uses the paper to potty. “Good Boy” and a pat on the head will reinforce your positive method.
As the puppy learns to use the paper, move it closer and closer to the door. Eventually you will move the paper outside. Once your puppy learns to go to the door to use the paper outside, you can remove the paper and have him just use the yard.
As with any potty training method, patience and positive reinforcement are important to teach your puppy in the shortest time possible.
Older Dogs
We’ve all heard the old adage “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. Of course this is simply not true. I have house trained many older dogs that were once outside dogs. My daughter is an avid animal lover and seems to regularly volunteer my household as a dog rescue, so we have had our share of experience in this problem.
It’s important to initially determine your dogs frequency of need to go outside. Most dogs will need to relieve themselves soon after eating, so be sure to take them out within a few minutes of finishing a meal.
An older do can be crate trained or command trained. If no one is with the dog for a good share of the day, the crate method is really the only option. Your dog will not soil the crate unless he absolutely cannot hold it. Please do everything possible to avoid putting him in this situation. Be sure he is taken out the crate regularly. He will soon learn the schedule and will not soil his crate.
With the command method, speak the same command each time you take your do outside. I am a believer in single word commands. Say “Potty” each time you go in the yard and praise your dog when he goes. He will soon learn why he is outside. It is best not to play with your dog outside until he learns why he is out.
If you dog has an accident, tell him no in a stern voice and take him immediately to the yard. Be sure to praise him each time he goes outside. He will soon learn where to go.
Regardless of the type or age of your dog and regardless of the method you use, always remember these general rules:
1.All dogs learn best by positive reinforcement. Your dog WANTS to please you. Be sure to praise him when he does and he will learn quickly.
2. NEVER hit your pet. He will never forget being mistreated and will quickly become hand shy or mean. Hitting your pet will teach him nothing other than mistrust of all humans.
3. Your Pet will learn quickly with a routine of consistency and positive reinforcement.
If you follow these general guidelines, your pet will learn quickly, and it will be a positive and rewarding experience for both of you.

Here are some important pet care information tips to help you get started:
1 Always make sure that your pet has an area in which it can go to the bathroom, and remember to praise your pet when he does something good.
2 Be sure that you do not over feed your pets because it is unhealthy for them to be over weight.
3 Never hit or shout at your pet because this will just make them scared of you.
4 Make sure that your pet has all of his shots so that he is protected against disease, and take your pet for regular check ups.I cannot stress this one enough please spay and neuter your pet. I am a PETA activist and if you knew how many unwanted, unloved animals meet their demise with euthanasia it would make your skin crawl.

5 Pets need lots of care and attention it is not fair on the pet or you if you know you are going to be out of the house for long periods of time.
6 Never give a pet as a Christmas present.
7 Don’t force your pet to do something that he doesn’t want to do this will only make you irritated and your pet very unhappy.

What about the Pet food Recall ??
The Pet Food Recall of 2007 has brought an enormous amount of attention to pet food. With tens of thousands of pets affected by the recall and with the death of several thousand pets from tainted food (refer to the PetConnection Database), it is not at all surprising that we have questions. The surprising thing is that it’s taken us all so long to ask these questions.
What have we been feeding our pets all these years? We’ve all, including Veterinarians like myself, trusted the pet food companies completely. We believed they have always held our pets – and our – best interests to heart. But in the case of the large multinational pet food companies, apparently not.
What we’ve been feeding has obviously not been what’s best for our pets. What we’re seen is shorter life spans, more disease, and more cancer – not healthier pets. While genetics do play a role, our pets are just like us. Garbage in… you know the result.
Pet food company ethics aside, the ultimate question that needs to be answered is this: what is the best food that we can feed our pets? Should we feed home diets, or are there companies that we can still trust? And what about raw food home diets?
The quick, simple answer, regardless of what you choose to do, is this: be informed. Be an informed, educated pet owner, and know what you are feeding your pet. You are your pet’s guardian. You know your pet better than anyone else, including your veterinarian. Your pet’s health is ultimately your responsibility – and that definitely includes what you feed your pet.
If you feed home diets, you’ll clearly know the ingredients, and can find the ultimate sources of the foods you buy. If you feed prepared food (kibble or canned), make sure you know what really goes in that food. Make sure you know the company very well – that they have trustworthy sources for their ingredients, and that they can prove it.
The other consideration, and I am hearing this quite a lot lately, is simplicity and convenience. The main reason prepared pet food became popular in the first place was because of convenience. Many of the dog and cat home diets you see tend to be quite complicated, and this scares many pet owners away.
I also hear many pet owners voicing concerns about home diets, wanting to ensure that they are ‘nutritionally balanced’. And while this is a consideration, the truth is that it’s not difficult to attain.
And again, what about raw food diets? Raw food and all of the apparent concerns (founded or unfounded) are definitely the subject of another article entirely, although it is definitely something I do recommend to some degree. So where does this leave us?
Ideally, I would recommend a switch to home diets, whether raw or cooked. You have the most control (again, in as much as we trust our own food sources) over the ingredients. You see, every day, exactly what you are feeding your pets.
However, the ideal is not always the most practical for many pet owners. There is also a consideration of the transition from completely packaged kibble to home food preparation. Many pet owners are unsure of how to prepare the foods properly, especially when dealing with raw food.
A great way to start, and this is what I am currently doing, is to feed a combination of home diets and packaged kibble. Again, make sure that you trust the company that produces the packaged food – do your own research! But I have found that this works well for most pet owners. Start with a home diet that you are comfortable with and feed it once or twice per week, and go from there. For my own pets, I feed one home cooked diet and one prepared, pre-frozen raw food diet. My dog and cat both love their new diets and are responding very well.
The other benefit of doing a combination is that you are providing a varied diet, something I definitely recommend now. There is not one food – packaged or otherwise – that is going to be perfect for all pets. By varying the diet you will make up for any nutritional imbalances your pet may experience from one particular diet or another.
For home diets, I have several available on my site, “Dr. Andrew Jones’ Inner Circle”, theonlinevet – please see the link in my bio. I’ve also prepared a list of pet food companies that I feel are trustworthy. In addition, I’m in the process of writing a book on pet food that will take on all of the subjects in this article, and provide many home diets and recommendations. Please visit my sites below to sign up for my newsletter if you would like to be notified when the book is available.
Being an informed pet owner includes not only diet, but health in general. I have an e-book and complete home study course on just that – visit Veterinary Secrets Revealed for more information.
